AUDIO-VISUAL TECHNOLOGY TRADE SHOW 

The Professional Audiovisual Technology Show, BIT Broadcast 2016, has set up a three-day programme with a great number of events where almost one hundred top professionals will discuss key questions for the industry, such as programmatic advertising, the entry of Telcos into the audiovisual market, new IP infrastructures, OTT services, hybrid TV, Ultra High Definition, the digital dividend or the future of radio.  

 

      

                 

 

Furthermore, a wide exhibition area accommodates a large number of stands of a variety of organizations: from the most prominent companies in the area to the most promising startups. A tour through these stands give the visitor the opportunity to discover the latest products and solutions covering the whole transmission chain: scene capturing (both professional and nonprofessional 2D, 3D and 360º cameras, virtual sets, camera control units, high fidelity audio mixing consoles…), video processing (high efficient encoders, color enhancement techniques…), video delivery (reliable IP streaming, hybrid flexible CDNs, statistics acquisition…) and presentation (4K monitors, HDR-capable TV sets, virtual reality headsets…).

Moreover, the R+D+BIT platform, driven by BIT Broadcast 2016, backs the most innovative projects under development, in both academia and industry, seeking out new technologies with high added-value and growth potential applied to the audiovisual sector. In this way, R+D+BIT acknowledges the work of professionals and organizations in the research community, whose role is essential to this sector. In this sense, the most ground-breaking projects will be presented during these sessions.   

 

 

Nokia, together with the Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes of UPM, has presented the TRANVIDEOADAP project. The main objective of this project is the development of a platform capable of transforming in real time existing multimedia content into the new adaptive streaming formats: HTTP Adaptive Streaming format (HLS) developed by Apple, Smooth Streaming format (MSS) released by Microsoft and the format defined by the international standard MPEG-DASH.

 

      

 

This platform will be able to ingest a content in any format and carry out the necessary on-the-fly transformations to the original media content and its associated metadata so as to be able to provide video services to any users, whichever the features and the location of their device are. So, the project TRANVIDEOADAP proposes an alternative solution for entertainment TV using a flexible architecture based on the cloud and on a smartly designed and managed Content Distribution Network (CDN).
